What are the dates and locations of the 2017 Pre-Arrival Orientations?

Is there a dress code for the event?
The dress code is casual to business casual. You will want to dress comfortably, but remember that you will be meeting with University representatives and your new classmates, so you'll want to make a good impression!
Do I have to register?
Registration is required for the event. Space is limited so please register as soon as possible to secure your place. Please use these links to register:
Will lunch be served?
A light lunch will be served in addition to a mid-morning coffee break.
How many guests can I bring with me?
Due to the limited space, each student will only be able to bring along one parent/guardian/guest.
Who can I bring as a guest?
Each student is allowed to bring one guest. That person can be a parent, guardian, sibling, or friend.
Is the Pre-Arrival Orientation required?
The pre-arrival orientation is optional. You will learn about arrival to campus, general information about campus resources and academics, and meet University staff and current international students. Detailed information about campus life and academic success will be presented at on-campus orientations. Please note that pre-arrival orientation and on-campus orientations will cover different material. On-campus orientation is highly recommended for all new international students.
If I go to the Pre-Arrival Orientation do I have to go to the On-Campus Orientation?
While there will be some overlap between the information covered at the Pre-Arrival Orientation and the On-Campus Orientation we still highly recommend that you attend the On-Campus Orientation since there will be additional information covered that will be important to helping you be successful at Illinois.

Will I be able to have the slides sent to me after the Pre-Arrival Orientation?
Yes. Presentation slides in English and Chinese/Korean will be made available after the Orientations.
What content will be included in the Pre-Arrival Orientation?
The Pre-Arrival Orientation will include information presented by Illinois International Programs, International Student and Scholar Services, Student Affairs (University Housing, Counseling Center, Career Center, etc), Graduate College and a representative of Undergraduate Affairs.
